Do you love anatomy? Have you ever wished you could return to really learn more about how the upper extremity anatomy works in order to produce functional (not just planar) movement…then this workshop is what you are looking for!
The workshop curriculum has been carefully structured to provide ample time for an advanced review of relevant musculoskeletal anatomical structures lead by an expert instructional team in an active-learning format.
You can look forward to an exploration of detailed mechanics of each joint of the upper extremity using real bones and educational models to enhance the consolidation of functional mechanics and anatomy in a hands-on manner.
Key discussions of assumptions for exercise and rehabilitation practices will be presented, using anatomy & biomechanics to 'bust myths' in these realms.
Topics for the UPPER EXTREMITY workshop
1. UE force couples: How do muscles in and across regions produce efficient movement?
2. Arthrokinematics for the upper extremity: One of the keys to our functional movement efficiency is conjunct movements....arthrokinematics are introduced/ reviewed as one perfect example of this!
3. Beyond scapulohumeral rhythm: If you ever got 'stuck' figuring out shoulder (dys)function....it might be because there are more joints than just the shoulder!
4. Elbow & forearm mechanics: Not just a simple hinge -what does the forearm and elbow really contribute to our daily function?
5. Wrist & hand bony architecture: The hand is a flexing machine - how does the bony configuration bias to this function and why?
6. Intrinsic & extrinsic muscular coordination for the hand: The wonders of the efficiency of hand dexterity revealed!
