Description:
This course provides an in-depth overview of oxygen transport, respiratory physiology, and the clinical application of oxygen therapy across acute and chronic conditions.
Learners will explore the mechanisms of oxygen and carbon dioxide transport, the pathophysiology of hypoxic and hypercapnic respiratory failure, and the causes and management of hypoxemia. The course also examines oxygen sources, delivery systems, patient interfaces, and monitoring tools such as pulse oximetryi, ncluding their principles, limitations, and safety considerations. Emphasis is placed on the role and scope of physical therapy in oxygen administration and delegation, as well as the impact of mobilization and exercise on oxygen transport.
Through integration of physiology, equipment performance, and clinical reasoning, participants will develop the knowledge needed to make safe, evidence-informed decisions regarding oxygen therapy in clinical practice.
