Make a difference where it matters most. Breton Ability is looking for a Physiotherapist to join our brand new Disability Support Outreach Team (DSOT) and help people with disabilities live with greater choice, dignity, and independence.

This is an opportunity to bring your clinical expertise into a collaborative, community-based role where your work has a visible impact on individuals, families, teams, and communities across Cape Breton.

Be part of something new from the beginning. DSOT is a brand-new team being built to bring Remedy to life, and this role offers a rare opportunity to help shape how innovative, communitybased disability supports are delivered across Cape Breton.

This is a chance to do meaningful clinical work in a setting where your expertise directly improves everyday life. You will provide physiotherapy assessment, consultation, and intervention services supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, acquired disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, mental health needs, and dual diagnosis. As part of an interdisciplinary team, you will develop practical supports that promote mobility, physical wellness, participation, accessibility, safety, and quality of life.

Flexible by Design: Funding is available for one full-time equivalent (FTE) Occupational Therapist position. The organization is committed to flexibility and is open to a range of scheduling arrangements, including full-time, part-time, shared, or customized schedules. Candidates are encouraged to apply regardless of their preferred hours, as we are willing to explore options that support both service delivery and work-life balance. Benefit eligibility may vary based on hours worked.

What you’ll do:
• Provide physiotherapy assessment, consultation, and intervention to support mobility, function, independence, and quality of life. 
• Assess mobility, gait, balance, posture, transfers, strength, and functional movement. 
• Develop individualized therapy programs, mobility supports, and rehabilitation strategies. 
• Recommend mobility aids, adaptive equipment, transfer supports, and environmental modifications. 
• Collaborate with individuals, families, and interdisciplinary teams to support person-directed goals. 
• Provide education on safe mobility, injury prevention, adaptive equipment, physical wellness, and Remedy-aligned, rights-based supports.

What you bring:
• Graduate of an accredited university Physiotherapy program.
• Registered and in good standing, or eligible for registration, with the Nova Scotia Regulator of Physiotherapy.
• Experience supporting individuals with disabilities, complex support needs, and/or diverse abilities.
• Knowledge of physiotherapy assessment, rehabilitation, mobility supports, therapeutic exercise, positioning, transfers, adaptive equipment, and physical wellness approaches.
• Strong consultation, communication, documentation, clinical reasoning, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Commitment to trauma-informed, rights-based, and person-directed practice.

Where you’ll work: This community-based role includes office, community, and virtual work, with travel across the service region. A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation are required.
