Member Value

Membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and the Nova Scotia Branch of CPA provides a wide array of benefits and services.

Most importantly, NSCPA is the voice of physiotherapy in the province of Nova Scotia.  Your membership supports our committed volunteers, who represent the profession with government, media, payors, other professions, and we represent Nova Scotia’s interests within the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.

Physiotherapists in Nova Scotia automatically become members of NSCPA by joining the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.  Both organizations offer valuable benefits and services.

As a member of NSCPA, you will:

  • Provide financial and demographic support for our projects and initiatives, by showing your support for our association through membership
  • Receive regular communications regarding Association activities, local courses, job opportunities, member news, and more.
  • Have the opportunity to participate on committees and in other volunteer capacities, greatly expanding your network and your ability to contribute to the profession, and strengthening your resume
  • Be eligible for the Association’s bursaries and awards
  • Have access to local professional development opportunities, at member rates when courses are sponsored by the Association
  • Participate in and benefit from provincial advocacy efforts, such as providing comment on emerging legislation, and fee negotiations.

As a member of CPA, you will be able to:

  • Access resources such as Physical Rehabilitation Outcome Measures, 2nd Edition, Competency Profiles, National Physiotherapy Month resources, Accreditation Program for physiotherapy services, and many more, all offered at significantly reduced rates for members.
  • Benefit from the advocacy role that your National Association plays at the federal level.
  • Participate in professional development programs such as conferences, Congress, teleconference education programs, continuing education programs and materials made available to members at reduced rates.
  • Keep up with professional trends and issues through CPA's member newsletter Contact (available for members only).
  • Benefit from information sharing with such groups as the Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulatory Boards, the Canadian University Physical Therapy Academic Council (CUPAC) and the World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT).
