Working as a Physiotherapist in Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia offers vibrant and diverse employment opportunities for physiotherapists from Canada and around the world.  Nova Scotia offers employment opportunities for physiotherapists in private practice and public practice, rural and urban settings, and across all spectrums of age and abilities.

The Nova Scotia Department of Health web site offers resources for those contemplating a health-related career in Nova Scotia.  The site includes information on living and working in Nova Scotia, and links to career postings for employment in public practice settings.

Visit the NSPA Career Centre for your best source of physiotherapy careers in Nova Scotia, with an emphasis on employment in private practice settings.

Professional liability insurance is highly recommended, regardless of the setting in which you are working (public or private).  While public practice physiotherapists may be covered under a hospital liability insurance program, there are many situations in which this coverage will not protect you.  The Canadian Physiotherapy Association offers a comprehensive Professional Liability Insurance program, which is available at three different levels of coverage for Association members.  CPA also offers a variety of insurance options for clinic owners.  For information on CPA's program and coverage details, please see the Insurance Services section of CPA's web site.

All physiotherapists must be registered with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists before commencing employment.  Check with the college for registration requirements.
