Physiotherapy Briefings for Physicians
Physiotherapists can contribute their expertise to an extensive array of health and mobility-related conditions. Physiotherapists commonly work together with other health care providers to maximize the healthy outcomes for clients.
Physicians are often the first point of contact for people entering the health system with a new concern, or managing long-term health conditions. Physiotherapists are therefore particularly keen to ensure that physicians are aware of the many ways that physiotherapists can ensure good outcomes for patients.
In a project initiated by the Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia (PABC) in 2001, and expanded across Canada in 2008, a series of research-focused briefing papers, called Physiotherapy Briefings for Physicians, was launched. Distributed across Canada twice yearly (and within BC four times yearly) as an insert in the Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ), the Briefings provide physicians with the latest evidence-based research on how physiotherapy can help.
The Nova Scotia Physiotherapy Association (NSPA) is extremely pleased to support this initiative, ensuring that physicians across Nova Scotia receive the insert. The full text of the national version of Physiotherapy Briefings for Physicians can be downloaded below. For additional issues (distributed in BC only), visit the Physician Briefings page on the PABC website (http://www.bcphysio.org).
