Member Discounts announced for SMU Small Business courses

 The Nova Scotia Section of the Private Practice Division (NSPPD), NSPA and St. Mary's University (SMU) are very excited to announce the launch of a new benefit that provides discounts to NSPA and NSPPD members for the SMU five-course Small Business Essentials management training program.  NSPPD members (including all students) receive a 15% discount off the five-course program and all other NSPA members receive a 10% discount.  These member discounts can be combined with other promotional offers from SMU, which could provide members with up to 25% off the total 5-course fee.

The SMU Small Business Essentials program includes courses on marketing, finance, operations, management, and strategy & innovation, all geared to the realities and unique characteristics of small businesses.  Ideal for clinic owners / managers, and students aiming for a career in private practice, the Small Business Essentials course provides intensive training over the course of five days.  The next program starts August 12 and ends Aug. 27 with class days on Thursdays and Fridays.

August 2010 edition of Physiotherapy Briefings for Physicians now available

Two times per year, the Canadian Physiotherapy Association distributes Physiotherapy Briefings for Physicians in the Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ).  The Briefings provide an evidence-based look at how physiotherapy can help in the management of common medical problems.  The series was originated by the Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia (PABC). 

The August 2010 edition of CMAJ will include a copy of Physiotherapy Briefings for Physicians focused on physiotherapy management of Lymphedema following breast cancer surgery.  The issue can be downloaded on the "Briefings for Physicians" page of the NSPA website, http://www.physiotherapyns.ca/index.php/site/about_physio_physicians/.
