Qualifications, Education and Clinical Requirements

Zenith Physio Pilates is looking for a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist to join us in the beautiful seaside community of Mahone Bay, NS. Our team currently offers musculoskeletal and pelvic health physiotherapy services, as well as clinical Pilates, osteopathy, and massage therapy services. All of our therapists work one-on-one with patients, and we have an excellent reputation for helping patients find solutions to complex problems.

If you haven’t lived in Nova Scotia before, there are many great reasons to try it: the ocean, the lakes, the forests, the traffic (there is none), and the people just to name a few. Our patients tend to be proactive about their health and open to what we have to offer them.

1) Education (required)

Undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy (BSc, MSc, or Clinical Masters)
Post-graduate training in manual assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor
Post-graduate training in Muscle Energy Techniques for pelvic floor dysfunction
Post-graduate training in the use of Biofeedback equipment

2) Experience

Must have a minimum of five years clinical experience in Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

3) Additional Qualifications

Must hold a current Pilates Instructor certification, specifically pelvic floor/functional core rehabilitation exercise prescription

4) Roles and Responsibilities

Direct Clinical Care

Work with patients to identify physical problems and limitations
Develop and review treatment programmes, both individual and group
Provide manual and/or exercise-based therapy for patients with joint and spinal problems
Educate and advise patients and their caregivers on how to prevent and/or improve conditions
Assist in the supervision and education of physiotherapy students
Write patient case notes and reports; maintaining charts
Collect patient statistics
Keep up to date with new techniques and technologies available for treating patients
Liaise with other healthcare personnel to supply and receive relevant information about the background and progress of patients, as well as referring patients who require other specific medical attention
Be legally responsible and accountable (example: acupuncture practice standards)

Administrative Duties

Booking and scheduling of patients
Manage payments received
Provide third-party payer forms as required
Maintain up-to-date registration, liability insurance, etc.
